Flying on United just got more expensive
United Airlines, which just made a multi-billion dollar jet purchase from Boeing may be trying to get flyers to foot the bill. The airline has announced a hike in ticket costs. The airline said Friday that it will be raising its prices for flights within the US from between $4 and $10 a round trip.
It’s the airline industry’s first such increase in three months.
Industry analysts say that United may roll back the increase if competitor airlines don’t match it. A sluggish economy and low job growth may hold back competitor airines’ eagerness to jump on United’s higher priced bandwagon.
