Golfers raise thousands for charity
132 travel industry golfers took to the fairways at Dale Hill Golf Club last week for the 10th Anniversary Just a Drop Charity Golf Day.
The event, sponsored for the ninth consecutive year by Jetset, saw 33 teams teeing off on the Ian Woosnam Championship Course on a gloriously sunny September day at the Dale Hill Hotel and Golf Club in East Sussex.
Players from all sectors of the travel industry took part and congratulations go to Andrew Nicholson who rounded off the day as the Champion Golfer for 2013.
Guest speaker comic Ian Irving entertained the guests at dinner followed by an incredible auction with prizes raising over £19,000.
Fiona Jeffery OBE, founder of Just a Drop, said, "Who would have thought that a conversation over a glass of wine at an ITT Conference would lead to the UK travel and tourism industry’s most popular annual golf tournament, with Just a Drop’s Golf Day celebrating its 10th anniversary?"
"Whilst my knowledge of the sport and my swing have sadly not changed over the last decade, thanks to the incredible goodwill of so many people – whether they are organisers, sponsors, golfers, prize donors or bidders in the auction – over the last ten years, their collective support has raised over £125,000 and helped transform the lives of over 500,000 people across 120 projects in 27 countries; a truly fantastic achievement."
Just a Drop thanked everyone who supported the event, including TravelMole’s Graham McKenzie for the ‘Beat the Mole’ Par 3 Challenge.
John Bond from Jetset and Giles Harper were also presented with an outstanding contribution award by Just a Drop in recognition of their support and ongoing commitment to the event/
The 11th Just a Drop Charity Golf Day will be returning to Dale Hill on September 3, 2014. To register your interest, please contact the event’s organiser, Giles Harper at: [email protected]
