Golly! A new take on the trolley dolly
An Asian airline turned the tables by employing handsome and “athletic” all-male cabin crew, in an effort to attract female customers. The Daily Telegraph reports that Skynet Asia Airways is using four male flight staff on flights between Tokyo and Miyazaki. The four men, aged between 20 and 40, wear bow ties and are also encouraged to introduce themselves to passengers, who may also have their photo taken with their favourite “trolley boy”. Hiroshi Yanagisawa, Skynet’s marketing and planning officer, reportedly said: “I know one of them personally and he is athletic and handsome, even to men’s eyes. We are a newcomer in the industry and we need to do something extraordinary to attract customer attention.” If passengers like what they see, the carrier is planning to introduce the all-male service on more flights.
