Thrifty Car Rental has launched operations in Thailand, and plans further expansion throughout the country.

Thrifty, part of the global Hertz International Group, has partnered with local operator Paragon Car Rental to open in Bangkok and Pattaya.

"It is truly exciting for us to see Thrifty’s expansion to Thailand," said Michel Taride, Hertz’s group president.

"Already a much sought-after destination by millions of international travellers every year, the addition of low-cost airline routes to Thailand is expected to drive even further growth potential for the Thrifty brand."

The company says it wants to expand to up to seven new airport locations by the end of the year, including both Bangkok airports, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Koh Samui and Khon Kaen.

Partner Paragon Car Rental has a long relationship with Hertz Group in Thailand as the franchise partner for its numerous locations under the Hertz car rental brand.

"Having successfully operated Hertz Thailand for 13 years, we are now ready to step forward with an additional exciting adventure by launching Thrifty Thailand. Embracing Hertz’s multi-brand strategy will help us expand our market, and target additional customer segments," said Chartchai Panichewa, chairman of Paragon Car Rental.
