Jet Airways flight evacuation
Passengers on a Jet Airways flight had to be evacuated down safety chutes after a problem with the plane’s landing gear.
According to reports, Flight 9W 2423 from Varanasi tilted to one side on landing at Khajuraho Airport, dragging the engine along the runway.
The plane was carrying 59 passengers and 8 crew members, who were all evacuated safely.
The airport will be closed for two days.
Jet Airways said passengers due to leave on the next flight were being transferred to Varanasi and Delhi, with an extra Delhi-Varanasi flight operating.
"The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed of the incident," it added.
It said it would be working closely with authorities to investigate the cause of the incident.
