Jumeirah checks into Bali
Luxury hotel group Jumeirah has released details of its plan to open a resort in Bali.
ԬլNicholas Clayton, COO of Jumeirah Group, speaking in Jakarta to introduce the group to the Indonesian market, said the beachfront Jumeirah Bali hotel was set to open in 2015 at the southern tip of the Jimbaran district.
Knight Frank real estate has predicted that Bali will have 10,466 hotel rooms in 2014 with 60 new hotel projects under construction
Among the latest openings are the Pullman Bali Legian Nirwana, The Stones Hotel at Legian, the first of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection of independent hotels in Asia Pacific, and Aston International’s budget Fave hotel in Kuta.
A moratorium on new hotels being built in south Bali is only a recommendation from the island’s governor, Made Mangku Pastika, and while it enjoys wide public support, it has been resisted by powerful district regents – effectively local mayors – who claim new projects are needed to increase the tax base of the regencies.
