Mantis to market RMS St Helena cruise
Mantis will feature RMS St Helena in its collection of ‘Boutique Cruises’ following a deal with the ship’s owner St Helena Line.
One of only two ocean-going vessels in the world to still carry the title of Royal Mail Ship title, RMS St Helena was built in 1989 and is a working ship as well as a passenger vessel.
Passengers sail from Cape Town to St Helena, one of the most remote, inhabited islands in the world – more than 2,000 kilometres from its nearest major landmass.
As well as marketing the RMS St Helena, Mantis says it will bring hospitality, education and conservation experience to the island with various initiatives to develop skills in the community.
Mantis, founded by entrepreneur and hotelier Adrian Gardiner and which promotes a private collection of hotels and cruises, has also signed a deal with the government of St Helena to develop a five star hotel on the island recently.
"We’re extremely excited to be marketing this iconic Royal Mail Ship, one of only two left in the world, as part of our growing portfolio of boutique cruises worldwide", said Gardiner, chairman of Mantis.
"This is the first of our exciting steps towards ultimately developing our very own boutique hotel on St. Helena island."
