New mega ship named Liberty of the Seas
Liberty of the Seas has been unveiled as the name of the new sister ship of Royal Caribbean International’s Freedom of the Seas.
Currently being built at Aker Finnyards in Turku, the 3,600-passenger Liberty of the Seas will join the cruise company’s fleet in May 2007.
It is the same size as Freedom of the Seas and will offer similar facilities, including a FlowRider surf pool, suspended whirlpools, ice skating rink and rock-climbing wall.
At the end of this month, over 7,000 agents from the UK and Ireland will attend the launch of Freedom of the Seas in Southampton.
This ship will sail a year-round Western Caribbean itinerary from Miami, starting June 4, calling at Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Labadee, Haiti.
Liberty of the Seas will also sail from Miami year-round but will offer alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean seven-night itineraries.
Eastern Caribbean destinations visited will include San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Philipsburg St Maarten.
