New Mexico taps Rocket Travel Marketing for UK trade engagement

New Mexico tourism leaders are keen to lure more Brits to the southwestern state.

Rocket Travel Marketing has been selected as the official UK & Ireland trade representation agency for the New Mexico Tourism Department.

International visitors to New Mexico were up 34% in 2023 compared to 2022, adding an estimated total of $607 million in visitor spending.

The partnership will focus on increasing awareness of New Mexico as a must-visit destination among the UK and Irish travel trade.

The aim is to drive visitor growth from these markets in the lead-up to the U.S. Route 66 centenary in 2026 and beyond.

Rocket Travel Marketing already represents US destinations such as Sonoma County, Monterey County, Huntington Beach and Morro Bay on the West Coast.

It will be responsible for developing a comprehensive trade strategy aimed at showcasing New Mexico’s attractions.

This will encompass its natural wonders, adventure tourism and Native American and Hispanic cultural heritage.

“We are delighted to partner with the New Mexico Tourism Department and represent such a fascinating and diverse destination in the UK and Irish markets.” said Mark Meredith, MD of Rocket.

“New Mexico is an appealing proposition for travellers looking for authentic and immersive experiences.”

“We look forward to introducing this incredible destination to our trade partners and helping to elevate New Mexico’s profile among UK and Irish travellers.”

Rocket Travel Marketing plans to engage with UK and Ireland-based tour operators and travel agents to raise awareness through training, sales calls, and trade events.

It will develop partnerships with key travel industry partners to create travel packages highlighting major attractions and organise Fam trips to provide UK and Irish travel professionals with first-hand experience.

Rocket aims to market New Mexico as a top destination for culture, adventure travel, and road trip enthusiasts.

Working with UK PR agency Brass Tacks Media, it will educate travellers in the UK and Irish markets on what New Mexico offers.

“We are excited to work with Rocket Travel Marketing. Their expertise in the travel trade industry and deep understanding of these markets make them the ideal partner to help grow awareness of New Mexico’s unique appeal,” said Cody Johnson, Communications Director at the New Mexico Tourism Department.
