Newmarket Holidays has expanded its Solo Traveller Collection with an 11-day escorted tour through southern India.

The group tour, India’s South – Kerala & Madurai’s Temples, is exclusively for solo travellers and explores the forests and plantations of the Western Ghats and the sprawling cities of Madurai and Kochi.

Guests kick off the India tour to Munnar, through mountains home to elephants, where they explore a tea plantation and museum.

The next leg continues to Madurai, for a guided rickshaw ride through the old city, a culinary walking tour of local markets, and a visit to a 17th century palace.

There is an evening visit to the Sri Meenakshi Temple to witness the musical, ‘Going to Bed’ ceremony.

Continuing eastwards to Periyar National Park, guests can join a nature hike, take a lake cruise and visit a local spice plantation.

The tour closes with a cruise through untouched Kerala onboard a traditional, thatch roofed Kettuvallam houseboat before returning to Kochi.

Richard Forde, Head of Trade Sales, said: “We were encouraged to develop this tour thanks to the growing interest in India tours and the success of our Solo Traveller Collection.”

Prices start from £3,249 per person (saving £350 until 30 April 2024), which includes eight nights’ half-board hotel, one night’s full-board lodging on a Kettuvallam, excursions, transfers, and return flights to Kochi.

Departures are available in November 2025 and through 2026.
