Commenting on the growth, the company praised the support of travel agents who, it says, have shown their ability to give confidence to travellers, despite the uncertainties of the past two years. Richard Forde, Head of Trade Sales said, "We are delighted with the year so far and agents have played a big part in bringing confidence back to our customers, especially when it comes to big-ticket long haul adventures. “Our 'Dream It. See It. Share It.' campaign, which gives up to 15% off holidays booked before 31 July, has been a successful sales tool for our agent partners, and we’re really excited to see them continue to benefit from it over the summer.” Stand out tours from the year so far have included a tour of Peru, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, a traditional big five safari tour in South Africa, and a wildlife and culture trip through Kenya’s famous East & West Tsavo parks. Bonface Muriithi, a tour manager who was born and raised on the slopes of Mount Kenya, says travellers are attracted to the small-group format of Newmarket Holidays tours. He said, “Guests are looking for unforgettable experiences, and escorted tours allow them to meet people and explore cultures in a way that's harder for them to do when travelling alone." Three tours that have helped Newmarket Holidays achieve record long haul sales: Kenya Grand Safari & Beach was a 14-day tour through the savannah and scrubland of Tsavo West National Park, and then into Tsavo East to discover giant elephant herds. Bonface Muritihi, who led the tour in June, said: “This wasn’t just a wildlife tour. Guests met tea farmers at family-owned plantations, crossed the equator, and visited a village to learn more about local culture,” newmarketholidays.co.uk/holidays/africa/kenya-beach-and-safari Peru, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands was a 17-day adventure that took place at the same time as June’s Festival of Light in Cusco, and visited the lost city of Machu Picchu, as well as Peru's capital, Lima; the Sacred Valley and the Inca capital, Cusco, newmarketholidays.co.uk/holidays/south-america/peru-ecuador-and-the-galapagos-islands On Safari in South Africa, was a 10-day tour including games drives and bush walks and staying at the Sebatana Lodge, which has its own private game reserve. Lucy Alborough, Sales and Service Manager said: "Our knowledgeable guides made all the difference, and with their help we managed to see all the ‘Big Five’,” newmarketholidays.co.uk/holidays/africa/on-safari-in-south-africa -

With the scrapping of testing regulations in the UK and beyond, holiday planning for the summer and winter months is now possible, with many countries having dropped the need for a pre-departure test, making the travel process so much easier.
The new brochure will include a total of seven brand new tours, with highlights including: ‘Christmas in Niagara and Toronto’, ‘Christmas Spirit in the Canadian Rockies, ‘New Year in Verona and Lake Garda’ and ‘New Year on Safari’. Each carefully curated journey is family-friendly and will enable the specialist’s customers to celebrate the festive season in a choice of incredible, wish-list destinations.
Commenting on the new brochure launch, Newmarket Holidays’ Head of Trade Sales, Richard Forde, said “Following the removal of restrictions, we know our customers are eager to make up for lost time, particularly when it comes to the festive season. We took this into consideration when collating and expanding our Festive brochure for the year. The new escorted tours, which have been added to our seasonal programme, offer plenty of experiences for creating memories of a lifetime.”
Forde continued: “We’ve still included our popular Christmas market breaks around Europe and festive sailings for ocean and river cruises. Our Lapland day trips, which were able to go ahead last December, are another highlight of this brochure and are almost sold out. We’ve been operating these family-friendly packages to Swedish Lapland for 10 years. Over this time, our specially charted flights from 13 regional airports have transported more than 2,500 customers every year. We’re currently over 80% sold and anticipating a sell-out season.”

The scrapping of the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) for international arrivals to the UK has seen the final barrier removed In addition, clearer travel regulations have seen a rise in customers paying their balances and booking either their first or second 2022 holiday. Richard Forde of Head of Trade Sales said; “It’s evident that customer confidence has really increased in the last few months, and they’re now eager to make up for lost time, specifically this year.” “This will be the first restriction-free summer that we’ve experienced in two years, so it’s understandable why customers are keen to take advantage of late and on-trend offers.” “In the last two weeks, 70% of bookings are for holidays departing in 2022 and 50% of those are departing in the next 16 weeks,” he added. The UK adopted the ‘Living with Covid-19’ plan from 1 April, in time for the Easter holidays. “As we emerge from the winter, we think many customers are now in full holiday planning mode for the rest of the year. Our UK programme is still proving to be a strong, continuing trend from 2021.” Newmarket Holidays says Italy remains the most searched destination, with a demand for the late summer and autumn. Portugal, Croatia, Norway, and the Greek Isles are also showing strong bookings, as well as end-of-the-year festive tours. Lapland day trips are nearly sold out, it says. Newmarket Holidays is running a new offer for April, ‘Reconnect. Reimagine. Rediscover.’ which is supported by up to 10% off 2022 departures. -

Although tours operating this year are experiencing strong demand, Newmarket Holidays has also received earlier than usual bookings for the next two years as more and more countries remove entry restrictions and requirements. To take advantage of this, the tour operator has released a large number of 2024 dates for much of its long-haul programme, particularly those operating in Africa and America. Richard Forde, Head of Trade Sales said “Demand for 2024 has been unexpectedly strong from the start of the year, and it’s clear that our customers are now eager to get their travel planning underway, having started booking holidays for both 2024 and 2023 as soon as restrictions began lifting. Agents have been chomping at the bit to secure 2024 holidays for their customers – especially on our Safari programme, Borneo, Costa Rica and the South American tours.” From the start of April, the UK adopted the ‘Living with Covid-19’ plan and, along with many countries around the globe, removed all previous Covid travel restrictions. Long-haul destinations such as South Africa, Kenya, and Costa Rica no longer require pre-departure tests, with many other countries likely to follow suit over the next few months. Forde continued; “From the start of the year, demand for the 2024 season increased ten-fold compared with 2019. We have released dates for 2024 earlier than usual because of this and we are adding on more departures as our tours sell out. We believe that customers have been saving up for and planning their trips during the pandemic, and they now want to spend money on wish-list, once-in-a-lifetime trips as soon as possible.” The escorted tour operator also believes that the cost of living crisis is potentially having an impact on this forward demand, as consumers recognise prices are likely to increase in the future. Forde concluded, “With prices rising generally, customers are aware that if they want to secure their preferred destination and date at the best price, then now is the time to book. Agents are really helping us get that message across and our customers are reacting, securing both their long haul and short haul travel plans. It’s really wonderful to see.” Newmarket Holidays is currently running a content-led campaign – ‘Reconnect. Reimagine. Rediscover.’ which is supported by a ‘save up to 10 per cent’ incentive for August to October 2022 tours and bookable until 5 June.
