SeaWorld unveils new rides
SeaWorld continues its move away from live animal attractions to conventional thrill ride experiences, with a trio of new coasters in the works.
SeaWorld San Antonio has unveiled the ‘Texas Stingray’ which will become the tallest, fastest and longest wooden roller coaster in the state of Texas.
Scheduled to open in spring 2020, it will reach speeds of 55 mph and last a full two minutes, SeaWorld says.
It boasts a 100-feet drop and a 100-feet long tunnel.

As well as the undoubted heart-pumping thrills, it will offer educational value too, says SeaWorld’s Chuck Cureau.
"There are stingrays down there. We want people to be aware of them and learn about the stingray shuffle. It’s a fully encompassing experience where people ride the ride as they see the exhibits and it adds to the over awareness of animals."
SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa also announced new coasters coming next year.
Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando will be the park’s first ‘launch coaster’ when it opens in spring 2020.
Busch Gardens will also debut the wooden roller coaster ‘Iron Gwazi.’
