MSC Cruises orders two more ‘World Class’ series ships

MSC Cruises announced a firm order for two new ‘World Class’ series ships.
This will take the number of ships in the class to six.
They are currently being referred to as World Class 5 and 6 and are expected to be delivered for service in 2029 and 2030.
They will be built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard and will be powered by alternative fuel sources including LNG.
The 6,700-guests ships will join MSC World Europa and MSC World America, which have already launched, and MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic, which will be delivered over the next two years.
“The confirmation for the two new World Class ships marks a new milestone and the continuation of our long-term industrial plan,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, MSC Cruises.
“The highly successful World Class platform combines the very best in environmental technology with the latest advancements in guest experiences.”
The new ships will also have shore power plug-in capability and advanced wastewater treatment systems.
